ELAA Shares FY18 Omnibus Funding Allocations for Child Care and Early Learning

From ELAA:

Congress has officially passed the FY18 Omnibus appropriations bill and it includes a HUGE increase for child care and early learning. This is a wonderful cause for celebration! The final bill contains:

$2.37 billion increase for the Child Care and Development Block Grant

$610 million increase for Head Start ($115 million of that for Early Head Start that will be used for Early Head Start expansion or Early Head Start/child care partnerships)

$35 million increase for CCAMPIS that funds child care for mothers in college

$20 million increase for 21st Century Community Learning Centers which supports after school programs

$11.4 million increase for Part C of IDEA

$12.8 million increase for Part B Sec 619 of IDEA

Flat funding for Preschool Development Grants at $250 million

Altogether, this adds up to an increase of more than $3 BILLION for child care and early learning. Please send huge thank yous to members of the Washington State delegation, especially Senator Murray who led much of this work (Sen Murray contact and @PattyMurray on twitter).
